How to Load/Unload a Firearm

Understanding the basic safety and proper methods of loading a firearm is important during crucial times of crisis. Handling a firearm can be very dangerous, therefore, proper training will help you become comfortable with the gun. The basic steps of firearm safety are:

a.) Treat the firearm as if it were loaded at all times.

b.) Point the barrel in a safe direction at all times.

c.) Do NOT place your finger on or near the trigger until you are ready to fire the firearm.

d.) Know your target and the surroundings.

e.) Know the proper steps to fire the pistol.

Loading a firearm (semi-automatic pistol)

1) Important- make sure the ammunition (bullets) matches the caliber (size) of the gun.

2) Point barrel in a safe direction.

3) Put the safety on if the gun can be loaded with the safety on

(safety should remain in the on position until ready to shoot)

4) Push the eject button to release the magazine and insert bullets (one at a time).

a. Insert bullets until the magazine is full.

5) Re-insert magazine upward into the handgrip of the gun (it will click when it has locked into place)

To unload a loaded magazine, reverse this process (safety remains in the on position at all times)

1) Point barrel in a safe direction and make sure the safety is in the on position.

2) Eject the magazine by pressing the eject button.

3) Remove bullets from magazine.

4) Re-insert empty magazine into the handgrip of the firearm.
